Chickie Bad Hair Day

Noel is having a very bad hair day!!! LOL!!! All of her feathers are coming in, but she still has some of her little Chickie fluff. At least Barry knows the proper way to hold the chicken!!! LOL!!! We even introduced Noel to the fake chickens on top of the computer. She found them to be very interesting. Charlie put his head on top of the bed so he could get a better look at the chicken. He had the expression, "I was not going to eat her, I just wanted to taste her". Sorry Charlie, but the Chicken is NOT up for grabs!!!

Play Day

As you can see Noel is growing!!! Her wing and tail feathers are growing. She is also getting taller. She had a soy sauce size dish for her food and it has to be refilled twice a day. What a PIG!!! LOL!!! We let her out for a little bit of play time today. She really enjoyed having a chance to run around and play. She even dared to see Gracie. Gracie thought the chick would have made a very nice snack, but we didn't let Noel get eaten. In two weeks Noel we be one month old, but I don't think she will be ready to go live with the other chickens yet.

Noel Update

Noel is eating and growing. Her wing feathers are getting longer and she now has some tiny little tail feathers coming in. She is 11 days old today. She seems to have adjusted to life in the make-sift incubator. She makes happy little peeping sounds most of the time, rather than the "help me I'm lost" cries that she used to make.

The Story of Noel

Well we have some VERY stupid chickens!!! Are hens are hatching chicks in the middle of winter due to the changes in the weather. Three chicks hatched on Christmas Day. Unfortunately The chicks can climb out of the chicken pen whether or not the door is open. Our guess is that the three chicks came out of the pen and got away for their mother. The mother freaked and left all of her chicks instead of trying to save some of them. When I went outside to feed the chickens and horses I saw the dead chicks and went back into the house to get some thing to put them in to get rid of the bodies. Two of the chicks were already stiff, but one chick moved!!! I brought the chick in and put it in a heating pad. As the chick warmed up she started to peek and run around. We saved a chick from a near death situation. Today the chick lives on!!!
