Shabbach Youth Trip

Friday through Sunday this week was the Shabbach trip to Myrtle Beach. We left the church at 7:00 am and Friday and got back at 7:30 pm Sunday. It was so much fun!!! We stayed at the Crown Reef Hotel, and our rooms faced the ocean. We went to 3 services while we were down there. (one each day) We would have praise and worship for an hour, then the preacher would preach for an hour, and then we would have another hour of praise and worship. I now it sounds like a long time, but it really didn't seem that long. Friday we played Putt Putt, but I was horrible at it. Then Saturday we went to the Mirror Maze. I went in with Hanna and Chelsea, but we got lost and Andrew had to show us how to get out. From the Mirror Maze we went to the Mall and shopped. Sunday we went to the outlet for a couple hours and I bought myself a new jacket. The Bus ride home was a lot of fun. I got to chat with some people that I never really got a chance to meet. The Third picture is of my friends Hope and Jake. The last picture is of my friends Lauren and Hope (again).

The Time is Near

Well, as you can see Noel is getting very big. She doesn't even seem like the small helpless chick that I rescued from an icy grave. She has grown and gotten stronger. Almost all of her feathers have come in and I have seen her fly once. Once she knows how to fly she will have to go back to her chicken family outside. The last thing for me and mom to do is get her a little more used to the cold weather. She is used to about 70 degrees, but it goes down to the 20's at night here. I am not going to put her outside until I think she can handle the cold. So over the next week or so we will make her box colder so she is more used to the cold when it is time to let her go. Unfortunately, I think once we put her out in the chicken pen she won't have anything to do with us anymore. None of are chickens care about us. They never come near us, but even if Noel decides to be that way it will be ok. At least I know I saved her life and raised her so she could have a nice chicken life.

Chickie Bad Hair Day

Noel is having a very bad hair day!!! LOL!!! All of her feathers are coming in, but she still has some of her little Chickie fluff. At least Barry knows the proper way to hold the chicken!!! LOL!!! We even introduced Noel to the fake chickens on top of the computer. She found them to be very interesting. Charlie put his head on top of the bed so he could get a better look at the chicken. He had the expression, "I was not going to eat her, I just wanted to taste her". Sorry Charlie, but the Chicken is NOT up for grabs!!!

Play Day

As you can see Noel is growing!!! Her wing and tail feathers are growing. She is also getting taller. She had a soy sauce size dish for her food and it has to be refilled twice a day. What a PIG!!! LOL!!! We let her out for a little bit of play time today. She really enjoyed having a chance to run around and play. She even dared to see Gracie. Gracie thought the chick would have made a very nice snack, but we didn't let Noel get eaten. In two weeks Noel we be one month old, but I don't think she will be ready to go live with the other chickens yet.

Noel Update

Noel is eating and growing. Her wing feathers are getting longer and she now has some tiny little tail feathers coming in. She is 11 days old today. She seems to have adjusted to life in the make-sift incubator. She makes happy little peeping sounds most of the time, rather than the "help me I'm lost" cries that she used to make.

The Story of Noel

Well we have some VERY stupid chickens!!! Are hens are hatching chicks in the middle of winter due to the changes in the weather. Three chicks hatched on Christmas Day. Unfortunately The chicks can climb out of the chicken pen whether or not the door is open. Our guess is that the three chicks came out of the pen and got away for their mother. The mother freaked and left all of her chicks instead of trying to save some of them. When I went outside to feed the chickens and horses I saw the dead chicks and went back into the house to get some thing to put them in to get rid of the bodies. Two of the chicks were already stiff, but one chick moved!!! I brought the chick in and put it in a heating pad. As the chick warmed up she started to peek and run around. We saved a chick from a near death situation. Today the chick lives on!!!

Fishing Trip!!!

I got up at 5:00 am and went with Barry and a friend from our life group at church. His name is Jim, but don't get him confused with the other Jim. We went to 10 different locations for fish, but it was a VERY slow!!! Usually Jim catches 10 - 15 fish and Barry catches 3 - 5 fish, but not today. Jim only got 5 fish and Barry got 1. Sorry, but all I caught was a minnow and I put it back. I still had fun though. We went to the hatchery and saw TONS of fish. some were even 15 lbs!!! It is just too bad that it was illegal to fish in the hatchery!!! LOL!!! Some times people that work in the hatchery release fish into a lake, but no one could figure out where they took the fish. Every where we went there was no bites. But we also saw a beautiful waterfall as we were going around and looking for a "good" spot to fish. On are way to one stop we made Jim stop so Barry and I could take a picture of the mountains. They were just beautiful!!! It was a lot of fun even though I didn't caught any fish!!!
